FALLEN EAGLE

Martha (Marti) Aleshire Kite Farrington
(September 1, 1945 - April 23, 2011)

Obituary

Martha J. Aleshire Farrington, of Lewisville, passed away Saturday, April 23rd, 2011. Marti was born September 1, 1945 in El Paso, Texas. She was a proud American and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. She worked for Southwestern Bell, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies for many years.

In her retirement years, she was an avid volunteer for the Susan G. Komen foundation in all three North Texas affiliates. Marti worked diligently within the Cherokee Nation, especially in the areas of education. She was a regular contributor to numerous other charities with which she also had a great passion.

Marti was lucky enough in her retirement years to meet the love of her life, hersoulmate, Dewey Farrington. Although they were not blessed with many years, those years were filled with a lifetime of love.

One of the greatest joys in her life was being a grandmother. She attended every school function and was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. She was like a second mom who was ready with great advice, would be the first to take a goofy picture, and make them feel like they were the most special children in the world.

Marti never met a stranger. She reached out to people in all walks of life. She was extremely generous, both monetarily and with her time. There was never any doubt that you could depend on her to be there. If it was important to her friend, it was important to Marti. She made her friends part of her chosen family.

Marti is survived by her husband, Dewey Farrington of Lewisville, TX; aunt, June Ward of Oklahoma City; daughter, Angie Crabtree, her husband Drew, and grandchild, Riley of Ft. Lewis, WA; daughter, Amy Lee, her husband Don, and grandchildren, McKenna, Jessica, and Jack of Southlake, TX; son-in-law, Robert Farrington, his wife Beverly, and grandchildren Kalena, Kati, and Brandon, and great-grandson Zachary; her sisters and brother; and numerous friends who were her chosen family.

Memorial service is scheduled for Friday, April 29th,2011 at 2:00pm in the chapel of the Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home, 740 S. Edmonds Lane, Lewisville, TX 75067. (972)436-4581.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Marti’s favorite charities:

Remembrances from her classmates:

Marti and I went back all the way to Kindergarten at Edgemere. I cannot recall ever seeing her without a smile on her face and a cheery word. This world will be a dimmer place without her bright smile. Our prayers go with her family in this time of challenge.

We just lost another beloved classmate. Marti Kite died suddenly. She was recovering from surgery a month ago. Complications late last week caused her to bleed internally and she was pronounced brain dead shortly after being taken back to the hospital. She was a great encourager and was incredible support for many of our classmates who've gone through cancer treatments or death of loved ones.
